Kimolos Island Cyclades Throughout the centuries Kimolos stood alone, indipendent, dominant, self-reliant, self-ruled. Documents mentioning that Kimolos had a common history with Milos are not really valid. The islands of Milos and Kimolos were always in arguments a fact which is confirmed by an inscription saying that in the trial where the people of Argos agreed with the people of Kimolos and after their "judgement" recognised and certified the dominant regime of the islands of Poliaigos, Etiiria and Livia which were wrongly claimed by Milos (338 b.C.) After the liberation from the Tourkish, the people of Kimolos built patiently and with a lot of hard work their new society and economy. During the German-Italian Occupation many of the locals were part of the spy Units of the Allies' Army while other died in the Battle of the Atlantic. |
